S.S.C. = School Site Council
The California Department of Education requires all schools, with the exception of Charter Schools, to establish a School Site Council (SSC). The SSC shall develop and approve the Single Plan for Student Achievement in consultation with all stakeholders, with the review, certification and advice of any applicable school advisory committees. The SSC, following approval of a school plan by the LAUSD Board of Education, shall have on-going responsibility to review with the principal, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/community the implementation of the Single School Plan and to assess periodically the effectiveness of the program.

E.L.A.C = English Learner Advisory Committee
The purpose of bilingual education programs is to provide eligible students the opportunity to acquire the English language skills necessary for successful participation in an English-only instructional program. This purpose is accomplished through various structured English immersion models and primary language support. A Home language survey and an individualized language assessment determine eligibility for the program. Students are transitioned into an English-only program when they meet district-established criteria for reclassification as fluent-English proficient (R-FEP). At each school where the total LEP enrollment is more than twenty, an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the local school program. The state and district provide funding.
